Breast Biopsies

A breast biopsy is a medical procedure where a small sample of breast tissue is removed. This is typically done when there is a suspicious growth or abnormality in the breast. These samples are sent to a pathologist to be examined.

At Queensland X-Ray, we provide specialised and sensitive breast biopsy procedures, including stereotactic breast biopsy, core biopsy, fine needle aspiration, and vacuum-assisted biopsy.

A breast biopsy may be guided by imaging tools such as ultrasound or mammograms to ensure that the biopsy is taken from the area of concern.

As well as our dedicated Women’s Imaging practices located at Mater Private Hospital South Brisbane and Sunnybank Private Hospital, many of our community practices offer specialised women’s imaging by a team of specialist radiologists, mammographers and sonographers, who are dedicated to providing women with an exceptional imaging service.

How much will it cost?

Fees for radiology procedures will vary depending on a variety of factors. We will advise you about the cost of your service at the time of booking but if you do have any questions, contact us and one of our team will be happy to help with your query.
