$5,000 Medical Imaging Bursary

In Partnership with QUT, Queensland X-Ray Regional Bursaries support fourth year Bachelor of Medical Imaging (Honours) students to undertake a regional clinical placement.

Eligibility

    Willing to undertake a seven week clinical placement at any of the offered regional locations (Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, or Toowoomba).

    Current Year 3, Semester 2 students at the time of application.

    At the time of application have a minimum GPA 4.0 and maintain it until the time of your placement.

  • Recipients of a Queensland X-Ray Bursary will receive the following;

    • A seven week clinical placement at one of the selected Queensland X-Ray regional placement sites of Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, or Toowoomba (one student per location).
    • $5,000 of funding to assist with the out-of-pocket expenses of undertaking a regional placement.
    • Optional two weeks of accommodation for each bursary recipient upon arrival at the placement location if required.
  • Applicants must:

    • be enrolled in the Bachelor of Medical Imaging (Honours) (CS48) Year 3, Semester 2 at the time of application and enrolled, or set to enrol for Year 4 in Semester 1, 2025
    • at the time of application, have a minimum GPA of 4.0 and maintain it until the time of your placement
    • be willing to undertake a clinical placement at one of the offered Queensland X-Ray regional placement sites in either of the seven week clinical placement blocks during Year 4.

    Queensland X-Ray regional sites eligible for this placement are:

    • Cairns
    • Townsville
    • Mackay
    • Toowoomba.

    Note:  While we endeavour to support student preference where possible, the location of your placement will be subject to availability and may offered at any one of the available sites.

  • Applications for The Queensland X-Ray Regional Bursary will close 11:59pm Sunday 27 October 2024.

    To apply, complete the application form (via QUT),including a written statement (maximum 1,000 words total) answering the following three questions:

    • Which Queensland X-Ray region you would like to complete a placement in and why? (Cairns, Townsville, Mackay, Toowoomba).
    • Explain the importance of completing a regional placement.
    • Queensland X-Ray is part of Sonic Healthcare, whose network of healthcare companies is united by core values. Describe what each of the five values means to you as a medical imaging student.

    • your current curriculum vitae (CV).

    Submit your application (via QUT)

    Once the selection process is complete, you will be notified in writing of the outcome of your application. The successful applicant may be notified of the outcome of their application by telephone or email prior to receiving the formal written notification.

  • You will need to:

    • maintain a grade point average of at least 4.0
    • maintain an enrolment (full-time or part-time) in Semesters 1 and 2, 2025.

  • Withdrawal by recipient: Bursary recipients who withdraw from their study program after receiving payment of scholarship benefits may be required to repay some or all of the scholarship funds received.

    Termination of bursary by Queensland X-Ray: Queensland X-Ray may terminate a scholarship if a recipient does not satisfactorily meet the bursary terms and conditions.
