After a ten year sojourn, Lockyer Valley Endurance Riders Inc held the much anticipated endurance ride at the Bony Mountain Polocrosse grounds at Easter in 2017.
Organiser Lyndell Abercrombie describes the event,
“Endurance is an exhilarating sport; nothing beats being out on your horse for hours at a time in beautiful landscape and along quiet country roads, and the sense of community amongst riders is fantastic. Endurance riding has always been a wonderful sport for families and we have no doubt the weekend will deliver. It’s only been made possible by the generous support of our local sponsors so I’d like to thank Synergy Accountants and Queensland X-Ray as well as the numerous other businesses who have come on board at relatively short notice.”
The event attracted 119 entries over the course of the weekend, with some competitors travelling from as far south as Manilla in New South Wales and Imbil to the North of the state. There were three events competitors could enter which covered 80km, 40km and 20km tracks which traversed soft shade-covered tracks through Bony Mountain and Upper Wheatvale near the Condamine River. The weather was magnificent for the entire weekend.
