We are a corporate sponsor of the AusHEAL Fundraising Dinner.
The AusHEAL Congo Project uses these funds to further the teaching and training of Congolese medical staff at the HEAL Africa Hospital in Goma, DR Congo.
AusHEAL scholarships are provided to train Congolese doctors to gain specialist qualification, while ‘Short Term Development Grants’ up-skill medical, nursing and related staff. AusHEAL further resources HEAL Africa staff to empower them to use their skills in caring for patients and training others.
AusHEAL teams of medical, nursing, allied health and logistical professionals visit for a few weeks each year to support the training of their Congolese colleagues.
This, in addition to a few AusHEAL volunteers who spend longer periods of time teaching and training in DRC, leads to building capacity into eastern DRC health services to create sustainable change. AusHEAL also provides infrastructure through contributions to hospital management systems, administration, computerisation, an oxygen plant, power and medical supplies including radiology equipment.
We have also contributed to resourcing the radiology department by providing gifts in-kind.
