Queensland X-Ray Featured by ABC News Ahead of National Lung Cancer Screening Program Launch

Queensland X-Ray is proud to be a provider of the Australian Government’s National Lung Cancer Screening Program (NLCSP), launching 1 July 2025.

In the lead-up to the NLCSP rollout, ABC News visited Queensland X-Ray - Taringa, one of our participating practices. This visit was part of a broader news story covering the NLCSP and the role early detection can play in improving outcomes for Australians at risk of lung cancer.

You can read the full story here.

Through the program, Queensland X-Ray practices across the state will be providing bulk-billed low-dose CT scans to eligible Australians. The screening program is designed to detect lung cancer earlier and to help improve patient outcomes.

Screening can help to save lives by detecting lung cancer early, when it’s most treatable. Lung cancer often has no symptoms until it’s advanced. So, screening is important even if participants feel well.

To participate, patients will need a referral from their GP or healthcare provider, who will assess their eligibility. They’ll then be able to attend any of the participating Queensland X-Ray practices to receive a low-dose Chest CT at no cost.
